For the longest time I have been hearing both sides of the story. I have been told on how it is good for your hair to get the split ends cut, that it helps it grow faster. I have also been told that it makes no difference AT ALL, and it's just a myth. I decided today I would go over both options and beliefs for Split Ends.
As a child I hated getting my hair cut. I was always told, "go get your dead ends cut, it will help it grow." I cannot even tell you how many people in my life had told me that because it's uncountable.
Science and Doctors have not found any connection between cutting split ends and follicles in your sculpt which determine how fast and how much your hair grows. Saying that there is no way cutting split ends makes the growth process any quicker.
It is also noticed though when people go for a long time without cutting their hair, the hair can get damaged by many different causes. Some facts can be a simple as sunlight, heat, poor hair care, harsh products, and even every day products and procedures. In some hair types this damage can causes breakage in the ends of the hair.
By the hair always breaking it really makes it seem that the hair never grows. People with deal with this type of issue can I believe benefit from having the split ends up. By cutting the split ends you are giving the hair a more likely chance of not breaking as more hair grows due to it being more healthy.
Some people recommend getting your split ends cut between 4-8 weeks after the hair cut, but others recommend you can wait 8-12. I believe the length of time should be determined by the person who is having the hair cut due to they have the best understand of their split ends and how much damage they have. I find if you don't have much damage you can wait over the 8-12 week period and have it done during a time you find it best suited.
Myself personally am a person who doesn't have this issue. I honestly went two years without cutting my hair once and it grew so long! I went into the hair dressers and she was surprised that it has been so long since my hair wasn't in horrible condition and it was very long.
Overall I believe getting your split ends cut in completely up to the person and what best suits their hair type. There is honestly no good or bad, wrong or right way to do it. I hope you enjoyed this post and found out some new stuff. Thanks for reading! Do you guys have any tips of stopping split end. Does anyone have a set in stone option if its good or bad? Share it, I would love to hear!! (: Do you think I should write my next post on ways to stop and/or slow down the process?
